It's Picture Book Month!

Set down your kindle.
Power down the nook.
Head to your shelves,
pick out a picture book.

Admire the artwork,
finger the pages,
remember that books
last through the ages.

Did you know that, starting this year, November is Picture Book month? Well now you do - no excuses, turn off the e-readers and listen up! According to the events founders, "in this digital age where people are predicting the coming death of print books, picture books (the print kind) need love. And the world needs picture books. There’s nothing like the physical page turn of a beautifully crafted picture book." In the words of Smokey Robinson, I second that emotion!

The Library Lesson

My short story, The Library Lesson, was selected to be posted on Knowonder, a children's website today - I'm so, so thrilled. It's a bit longer than what I usually write, but they liked it! Yay!! Knowonder is a free website that posts a new children's story every day of every month. I share them with Allison, partly to encourage her reading and partly to hear her ask for the "pooter" (he, he - I love how she says computer). And if I get enough comments, I'll win this month's People's Choice award. If you are so inclined, please click on the link and leave a little message. Thank you!!
