If you are ever looking for the world's neatest indie books store - get ye to INKWOOD BOOKS! It's so cute, the people there are super friendly, and their books are amazing! Thank you for having me Inkwood.
What is better than reading to nearly 75 little montessori monsters? Doing it with an old childhood friend, who is now an amazing educator! Thank you so much for having me Betty Jane! I will post more pictures as they become available, but I had to share this pumpkin from Cottage 2. It was filled with pudding, surrounded by cookies, and came with a beautiful Thank You card. How sweet!
I want to give an extra special, extra BIG thank you to everyone at North Elementary in Okeechobee! You all made me feel so very welcome (the donuts! the coffee! the lunch!) and I can't wait to see your little kindergarten and first grade monsters again (all 240 of them!!). I am honored to have been your first official "author visit."
I was interviewed by the ever fabulous Romelle Broas. Thank you Romelle!!! The post includes tidbits about ontract, planning a launch party, figuring out school visits and - obviously - diet coke and nutella. You can see the full article here:
"Let’s face it, if you have children you know that teaching them proper manners such as please and thank you can be a MONSTER of a job! Not anymore! Mind Your Monsters is a great book that shows what happens when monsters, vampires, zombies, and werewolves invade Wally’s quiet town. The loud, clumsy monsters make a huge mess from knocking down lampposts to chasing the mail carriers. The monsters continue to destroy Wally’s town until he says the magic word “Please”. The not so scary book has some colorful illustrations, great examples of people and monsters using good manners, and most importantly, a cheerful ending. Using manners helped bring the townspeople and the monsters together, and they eventually had a lot of fun!"
"The monsters in this book remind me of Monsters Inc. but I’m sure that’s just a coincidence! Wally’s town is invaded by monsters who make a mess of it. The vampires of scaring kids in the park. Zombies are knocking over lampposts. Werewolves are chasing the mail carrier. What to do? Wally figures out the magic word that gets the monsters to behave. I think you know that magic word too! [picture book, ages 3 and up]"
Ah, my old stomping ground - Tampa. Where I went to high school, where I had my first condo (and first roof leak), and now where my books are in the library. Well, technically all of them are checked out (how cool is that?!?!), but you know what I mean. And I am featured as a local author for the Hillsborough Library System - thank you!!
Um, so, I received this picture today from my friend Jac. It's the bulletin board at Madison Avenue Lower School in Madison Mississippi. Can you say MIND BLOWN?!?! And thank you! And also WOW, and whole bunch of other blubbery, weepy, grateful stuff. This is just incredible. I love seeing how teachers and librarians are using MIND YOUR MONSTERS in their schools.
